The White Horse Inn is in Central Vermont, which makes us perfectly "centrally located" to many Vermont state attractions. Whether your stay is 2 days or 5 days, for any of the four seasons we are in the right location.

Winter     •     Spring & Summer     •     Autumn

Winter

For winter activities, we are conveniently located 500 yards from the entrance of Mt. Ellen (Sugarbush North), three miles to Mad River Glen, and just minutes to Ole's Cross Country Ski Center and Blueberry Lake Ski Center. Stay and experience all of the area ski resorts. If you do not ski, try snowshoeing, sleigh rides, or just the magic of the snow, then come on in and warm up by our fire.

Spring & Summer

Bike Race

Spring and Summer brings art festivals, hiking, biking, kayaking and so much more to the Mad River Valley. Here are some fun ways to spend your time while staying here with us at the inn.

We recommend all tours start right here in the Mad River Valley. Our Artisans Gallery represents, over 100 artists, Warren Village has many quaint shops. Historic Waitsfield Village is home to the General Wait House, which is our local Chamber of Commerce. The Mad River Valley offers guided recreational tours, theater, shopping and many special events.

Our 1st sample itinerary, we call The Taste of VermontDay 1:
Ben & Jerry's, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Grand View Winery,
Mt. Mansfield Gondola, Von Trapp Family Lodge. Day 2:
Cabot Cheese, Vermont State House, New England Culinary Institute,
Morse Farm Sugarworks. Day 3: Church Street Shopping,
Lake Champlain Chocolates, Lake Champlain Tour.

With a bit more time, our 2nd itinerary encompasses more of the state,
The Ultimate Vermont... Day 1: Granville Bowl Mill,
Vermont Maple Museum, Vermont Marble Exhibit, Wilson Castle.
Day 2: Mt. Mansfield Gondola, Von Trapp Family Lodge,

Thinking of a Bike Tour, Mad River Valley offers some wonderful excursions. A 16 mile loop trek begins right at Route 100. A shorter journey of just 4.5 miles, begins just minutes from the inn.

When making your reservation, tell us some of the things you would like to see and do and we can have a suggested itinerary waiting just for you upon your arrival.

Autumn

Fall Foliage

Then there is Autumn, the color and the beauty of the turning maple leaves. Autumn is a time to take leisurely drives down winding, mountain roads, stopping for the perfect photo opportunity, or for that great antique shop or because you spotted a moose! Take a brisk walk down one of the many Mad River Paths. Perhaps you will choose the Kingsbury Pond Walk, where you may spot a beaver, or the Bobbin Mill Walk, with the fabulous Hartshorn Falls. Feeling more adventurous; hike Mt. Abraham (4006 feet).

Whatever you choose to do in Central Vermont, the White Horse Inn is your one central location lodging.
